Tropical... warm! Warmer than home!
The beaches are secluded and uncrowded, even during prime sunning hours. But everywhere, little
stone huts of the Mayans remind you that you are the latest visitor to a remarkably unspoiled beach
with 1000 years of history.
This untouched splendor is close enough to enjoy the excitement and nightlife of Cancun, but far
enough to find a secluded beach to call your own. The entire region is hopping with history from
the ocean city of Tulum to the forgotten splendor of Coba and Chichen Itza.
Playa del Carmen -- About 45 minutes from Cancun, this village has long and gorgeous beaches that
are pleasantly uncrowded. The atmosphere provides the perfect backdrop for leisurely days spent
shopping, sunning or enjoying local cuisine.
Further downt he coast lies the town of Puerto Aventuras. Even though this area is new, its
cobblestone streets and quiet atmosphere give it the air of the colonial fishing village.
An hour south from Cancun is Akumal, the Sun Coast's center for relaxation. This coastal hideaway
is the perfect setting for scuba diving or simply relaxing on its pristine beaches. At the southern
end of Mexico's Caribbean Sun Coast lies the walled city of Tulum, the only Mayan city built on the
ocean.
