Accommodations: Set in a series of low-rise villas, air-conditioned guest suites have breezy private balconies overlooking the ocean, the pool, or the gardens, separate living areas, one king or 2 queen beds, marble baths with 2 basins, Jacuzzis, ceiling fans, in-room safes, and mini-fridges. Cable TV and phones top the tech conveniences, and coffee makers, hair dryers, and irons and ironing boards are also included.
Dining & Entertainment: The main buffet restaurant La Tortuga is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. La Casa de mi Abuela serves local Dominican cuisine for dinner. LaBrasa, a Caribbean grill, has spectacular ocean views to accompany the Continental breakfast buffet, lunch buffet, and dinner buffet. For fans of Mexican cuisine, Margarita is the place for nachos, frijoles, and cocktails. I Mascherati Di Venezia specializes in Italian fare for dinner. Bucanero, another room with a great ocean view, serves fresh seafood for lunch and dinner. The all-day Arenal restaurant and snack bar sits right on the beach. International specialties are served for dinner at El Bodegon, which also has a chef's table, wine cellar, and tapas bar. Swim up to the poolside El Cocotal for cocktails anytime during the day, and take it to Overtimes sports bar every night until 6:00am. Mike's Coffee & Tea Cup is the place for espresso. Adults let their hair down at the "Wave" disco, located off the lobby area and open from 11:00pm to 4:00am nightly.
Recreation: Guests have access to facilities at the adjoining Ocean Sand resort. Dive into 2 hugeswimming pools – one near the beach, the other near the lobby – with swim-up bars and lounge chairs. A full menu of massages, body wraps, and other treatments is available at Metamorphosis Spa, which has a relaxation zone, massage rooms, sauna, Jacuzzi, hair salon, and fitness center. There is also a massage hut at beachside. At the water sports center located at the beach, guests sign out windsurfers, kayaks, snorkeling equipment, boogie boards, and other gear, as well as arrange for motorized water sports, fishing, catamarans, dive trips, and certification courses; introductory scuba lessons in the pool are also offered. Play tennis and volleyball, go bicycling, fire away on the archery range, and take the whole family to Punta Cana's only bowling alley located inside a resort. The beachside kids club entertains children ages 4-12 with supervised games, competitions, dance lessons, Spanish lessons, bike tours, videos and movies, and a mini-disco. The casino (open 7:00pm to 3:00am) hums with slots, blackjack, and other table games. Transportation is provided by the resort to nearby White Sands Golf Course, designed by 6-time Spanish Amateur champion Pepe Gancedo.
