Resort Description

Elegant and warm, this craftsman-style resort has everything discriminating guests want. Spa services, golf, restaurants, and a nature preserve round out its lovely La Jolla location.

This refined hotel was designed in tribute to the early 1900s California Craftsman movement. On a bluff between La Jolla and Del Mar, it is alongside the renowned Torrey Pines Golf Course.

A doorman in a traditional Scottish kilt ushers you into the Lodge upon your arrival. You immediately feel as though you're in a manor house, with a retreat-like ambience, instead of a hotel. The 170 spacious rooms and suites are elegantly decorated with hand-crafted Stickley Style furniture and William Morris-inspired fabrics and carpets. The Signature accommodations overlook the Lodge’s central courtyard and features high-tech details demanded by today’s traveler. Additional in room amenities include, most offering balconies or patios, air-conditioning, mini-bar, refrigerator, cable TV, an in-room safe, and complimentary bath products made with local sage. NOTE: Expect occasional roars here, which are the sounds of military jets on training missions along the coast.

Executive Chef Jeff Jackson, winner of the prestigious USA Bocuse d'Or Culinary Gold Cup, commands A.R. Valentien. The Lodge's signature restaurant, in a timbered room overlooking the 18th hole of Torrey Pines, is named for the California artist whose wildflower watercolors grace the walls. The philosophy behind preparation of the contemporary California cuisine is basic ingredients, minimal handling, and large portions. On Thursdays, 10-20 diners sit together at communal Artisan Tables for a 4-course meal served family style. The Grill and Bar offers more casual bistro fare. Sit inside and watch the goings-on in the exhibition kitchen or head out to the patio and eat among the pines.

The posh spa emphasizes a holistic approach to its restorative treatments. Partake in the herbal-infused steam room and the dry sauna. The Lodge also has a fitness center, an outdoor heated pool with trellised cabanas, and a beach nearby. Get back to nature and take a hike in the beloved Torrey Pines State Reserve. You'll be glad that you did. Golf-playing guests have guaranteed tee times at the famous course, which will host the 2008 US Open. (Advance golf reservations are required for Lodge guests.) Complimentary chauffeured transportation takes you anywhere within a 5-mile radius of the Lodge for entertainment, dinging, and shopping.

Prepare to be pampered at this most luxurious oceanfront resort!
