With the relaunch of the Disney Magic, DCL will begin replacing the existing MickeyBands used by Youth Activities with the new Oceaneer Band. Similar to the MickeyBands, Oceaneer Bands utilize Radio Frequency (RF) technology to streamline the check-in and checkout process at secured programming areas (i.e. Disney’s Oceaneer Club & Lab, and Nursery). The new Oceaneer Bands will also offer our Guests a higher degree of comfort and durability.
This is a great change for Disney Cruise Lines as the previous bands were pretty rough on small kids. My daughter used it and when she took it off she had a red mark from it pressing into her skin and a few kids we saw had to have theirs replaced or moved to another hand. We’re very excited to see the new bands and we will be trying them out in January when we revisit the Disney Magic to check out all of the new upgrades since their refurbishment in September 2013!
Beginning 10/25, the Oceaneer Band will only be available aboard the Disney Magic. The Disney Wonder, Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy will begin to utilize the new Oceaneer Band in the coming months.
