Luxury hacienda hotel and former family-run estate, between Merida and Uxmal – Experience the grandeur of times past at this restored 17th-century colonial plantation-turned-hacienda hotel with modern comforts. The property is a great base from which to explore nearby cultural and natural attractions.
Accommodations: The air-conditioned rooms and suites are in restored 17th-century buildings, and most accommodations are named according to their original use, such as Pharmacy, School, and Pay-House. Each has a king-size bed or 2 double beds, a mini-bar, a mini-sound system, an in-room safe, and an indoor hammock suspended from the stone walls. All suites have high ceilings with exposed beams and rafters, tile floors, and tropical hardwood furnishings. Most of the Superior Rooms open up to a central garden and a patio with a plunge pool. The Junior Suites and Deluxe Suites have a separatebedroom, a private terrace with a plunge pool, and a garden view. The Presidential Suite has a living room, a bathtub made from Ticul stone, and a private swimming pool.
Dining & Entertainment: Start the day with an American breakfast of eggs, toast, juice, and coffee. The Temozon Restaurant features international and Yucatan cuisine in a high-ceilinged room with wooden beams and overhead fans; outdoor dining is on a courtyard balcony. Organic ingredients from the gardens are used, and fresh bread is baked on the premises. A private, romantic dinner under the stars can also be arranged. In addition, Bar Temozon is open for cocktails throughout the day and into the evening.
Recreation: The property's centerpiece is a long swimming pool with stone columns and fringed by palm trees. Play tennis during the day or at night on the court where the former estate's stockyard was. Explore the area along hiking and biking trails, and get another perspective on the landscape on horseback. The Hol Be Spa preserves ancient Mayan healing practices in a restful retreat that harmonizes with nature. TIP: Plan ahead and book spa services early, because appointment slots fill up fast. Favorite options for resting and rejuvenating your spirit include a visit to the courtyards, and attending services in the 17th-century church.
