Accommodations: The bungalow-style guest rooms open onto private balconies with views of the ocean or the surrounding tropical scenery. All boast Hilton’s Serenity Collection: the king and paired double beds are swathed in plush mattress pads, 250-thread-count sheets, down-filled comforters, duvet covers, and pillows; the marble baths feature Crabtree & Evelyn bath amenities. Dark-wood furnishings, creamy tones, and marble floors give the rooms a contemporary, airy feel. Each is equipped with a 32-inch flat-panel TV, table and chairs, phones with voicemail, in-room safes, coffee makers, mini-fridges, hairdryers, and irons/ironing boards. Alarm clocks are MP3 player/iPod compatible. Junior Suites have more living space, upgraded amenities, and private plunge pools.
Dining & Entertainment: La Cosecha is a casual buffet and cook-to-order restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and serving a wide variety of international fare and local dishes. It also hosts spectacular theme nights throughout the week. Open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. is Grill Del Fuego, an Italian restaurant where appetizers and deserts are served buffet-style and main courses are a la carte. Creative Costa Rican cuisine, prepared with locally acquired ingredients and served with gourmet style, is the specialty at the dinner-only El Dorado. Drinks and tropical cocktails are served from 11:00am-1:00am at El Ritual Bar, while guests lounging by the main pool can enjoy refreshments at Fuente De Vida pool bar. El Bocadillo has a full bar and a light menu.
Recreation: There is a free-form infinity pool that looks out on the bay, a lap pool, and plenty of chaise lounges for sunbathing. Off-site excursions are very popular in the region, and include activities like snorkeling, jungle treks, zip-lining, rafting, bird-watching, and other eco- and adventure travel activities. Consequently, the wide volcanic-sand beach is rarely, if ever, crowded. Other diversions include tennis, surfing, volleyball, fishing, waterskiing, mountain biking, scuba diving, mud baths, and a fitness center.
