Luxury beachfront resort with island style and a relaxing ambience – Located on 20 acres along a quarter-mile of crescent-shaped, white-sand Poipu Beach, this elegant resort draws both couples and families with a range of recreation, dining, and entertainment.
Accommodations: The 3 buildings housing the air-conditioned rooms and suites are no taller than coconut trees, so they blend into the shoreline setting. The accommodations have a private lanai with water or garden views, Sheraton Sweet SleeperSM beds, cable TV, a coffee maker, a clock radio, an iron and an ironing board, bathrobes, and a hairdryer. NOTE: A residential road separates the Garden Wing from the Beach Wing and the Ocean Wing. The rooms there are smaller than in the other 2 wings. Kids age 17 and under stay free in their parents' room when using the supplied bedding. TIP: Arrange for a special greeting amenity, such as a tropical flower bouquet or gift basket, to welcome friends, loved ones, or colleagues.
Dining & Entertainment: Shells Steak & Seafood is surf n' turf at its finest. The restaurant also serves breakfast, buffet-style and a la carte. Kids age 12 and under eat free at Shells with a paying adult, for up to 2 children per table. Go to The Point for easy fare throughout the day and the best place to see the sunrise and sunset. Kids can get their lunch packed in a sand pail with a shovel at the Oasis Bar & Grill. Fresh island seafood is used to make sushi at Naniwa. Classic dishes and lovely ocean views are served up at Amore Ristorante Italiano. The luau is all about traditional Hawaiian specialties, ethnic cuisine, and lively entertainment. Make special arrangements for a private oceanside dinner, starting by the light of the setting sun and ending under a canopy of stars. Join in the nightly mai tai reception, where musicians and hula dancers perform. The resort participates in the Flavors of Island Music campaign. Room service is at the ready.
Recreation: The beach is safe for swimming as well as snorkeling, boogie boarding, and surfing. Get instruction from the PADI scuba dive center located at the resort. Swim in 2 pools, each with a children's section. The beachside pool has a slide and a whirlpool; the garden-set pool has a waterfall. The beautiful view of Kauai's southern coastline makes your workout seem easier at the fitness center. Ask the concierge about the yoga classes on the beach and local jogging trails. Indulge in a massage, and learn lei making and hula dancing. Kids can build sandcastles and go kite-flying at the Keiki Aloha Club.
