8-Night Eastern Rail Odyssey

Itinerary:

Day #1 Boston, Massachusetts - Tour Begins - Boston’s historic cobblestone streets, the singular buzz of Manhattan, and the stately monuments of Washington, D.C. are all hallmarks of three incredible East Coast cities. Experience it all with the romance, comfort and ease of the railway.
Day #2 Boston - Explore Boston during a locally-guided sightseeing tour featuring the Old South Meeting House, the gathering place of patriots; the Public Gardens; the Old North Church; Beacon Hill and the U.S.S. Constitution - the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world. An afternoon at leisure allows you time to stroll the Freedom Trail, explore Newbury Street’s trendy boutiques and cafes, or perhaps visit the New England Aquarium. Boston’s charms are varied and abundant. Tonight, the atmosphere becomes very “Ye Olde New England” when you enjoy a welcome dinner at one of Boston’s oldest restaurants, the Union Oyster House, located on the historic Freedom Trail.
Day #3 Boston - New York City, New York - Spend your morning at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library reliving the evocative stories from Kennedy’s “Camelot” years. Later, stop at the famed Faneuil Hall marketplace, bustling with a tempting collection of food stalls and eclectic shops. Faneuil Hall has been a lively market and meeting place in Boston since 1742 – and a setting where passionate speeches from patriots like Samuel Adams stoked the flames of the American Revolution. Then, it’s “all aboard!” as a train whisks you to New York City. This evening, you are free to explore “the city that never sleeps” – lit up at its finest – as you wish!
Day #4 New York City - Start your day like a local New Yorker…with breakfast at a classic New York City diner! Then, join your local guide for a thorough tour of the “Big Apple.” From Greenwich Village, the Empire State Building and the Wall Street district to Little Italy, Chinatown, the United Nations, and the Chrysler Building, discover quintessential New York. A visit to Ground Zero is sure to be an unforgettable moment. During an afternoon at leisure, experience your own New York. Maybe you’ll explore Central Park, shop on 5th Avenue or wander through the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Tonight, enjoy a great dinner with your fellow passengers, followed by a delightful Disney™ Broadway show!
Day #5 New York City - Washington, D.C. - Enjoy a memorable breakfast this morning at Rockefeller Center before zipping up to the Top of the Rock at 30 Rockefeller Plaza for awe-inspiring views of New York City from its 3-tiered observation deck! Then it’s “lights, camera, action!” – get a sneak peek into the exciting world of television during a revealing tour of NBC Studios. Later, climb aboard your train for a relaxing journey to the nation’s capital – Washington, D.C.
Day #6 Washington, D.C. - Embark on a narrated motorcoach tour of the national monuments and memorials that comprise the famous landscape of Washington, D.C. Begin your tour at Arlington National Cemetery, the final resting place for many national heroes. Pay tribute to the Shuttle Columbia astronauts at the new memorial, and to John F. Kennedy at the eternal flame that marks his gravesite. Throughout your comprehensive tour, behold wonderful views of the Capitol building, the White House, and the city’s monuments and museums. Enjoy a trip to the White House Visitor’s Center where you will gain insight into the many transitions the official residence has undergone. Your tour concludes with a drive along Embassy Row and stops at the moving World War II Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and the Korean War Memorial. Tonight, the city is yours to explore at your leisure. Perhaps you’ll want to experience one of its great restaurants, attend a performance, or opt to see the city’s monuments draped in evening light on a Twilight Tour.
Day #7 Washington, D.C. - Begin your day at the Newseum, where you’ll experience the world of journalism through interactive exhibits about news, history and current events. This cutting-edge museum is the newest in Washington, D.C. Spend your afternoon at the world-famous Smithsonian Institution, where you can find countless treasures as diverse and fascinating as the Hope Diamond, the actual Apollo 11 Command Module and television’s Archie and Edith Bunker’s worn living room chairs! Your afternoon is at leisure to perhaps visit the city’s art museums, the Ford Theatre or the National Mall. This evening, gather with your fellow travelers and celebrate your East Coast adventure at a farewell dinner.
Day #8 Washington, D.C. - Tour Ends - From the historic Freedom Trail, to the energy of Manhattan and the grandeur of the nation’s capital, you will take home unforgettable memories of your Eastern Rail Odyssey.
