Itinerary:
Day #1 Fairbanks. Arrive in Fairbanks, the golden heart of Alaska, and transfer to your overnight hotel. You may choose to start exploring the vibrant downtown area or perhaps take a relaxing stroll along the Chena River.
Day #2 Fairbanks. Enjoy your included CRUISE aboard the Riverboat Discovery today. The cruise will take you down the Chena and Tanana Rivers while narrators give interesting information about living in the interior of Alaska. The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore Fairbanks. Why not try your hand at gold panning, browse one of the local art galleries, or enjoy a traditional Alaska salmon bake?
Day #3 Fairbanks–Alaska Railroad–Denali National Park. This morning, transfer to the Fairbanks Rail depot and board the ALASKA RAILROAD for a journey to Denali National Park. During your journey, you’ll pass through spectacular Healy Canyon where the surging waters of the Nenana River cuts through the steep-sided cliffs. Be sure to have your camera ready and keep an eye out for wildlife and magnificent views of Mount McKinley. Arrive Denali mid-day and transfer to your hotel for a 2-night stay.
Day #4 Denali National Park. Today, explore the beauty of Denali national park. Included is a 7-hour TUNDRA WILDERNESS TOUR that travels deep into the national park. Watch for bear, caribou, sheep, and moose as your driver guide highlights the park features. During your free time, you may wish to take a thrilling helicopter ride over the glaciers or experience the Cabin Nite Dinner Theater, where you’ll enjoy hearty Alaskan fare and be transported back to the Gold Rush era with songs, stories, and dance.
Day #5 Denali National Park–Alaska Railroad–Anchorage. There’s time this morning to enjoy more of Denali National Park. Perhaps take a guided ATV tour, experience whitewater rafting on the Nenana River, or visit a local husky kennel where you’ll meet champion sled dogs, cuddle with the puppies, and learn what it takes to cross the finish line with a champion Iditarod. Re-board the ALASKA RAILROAD and continue to Anchorage, Alaska’s capital city.
Day #6 Anchorage. Today you have a full day to explore Anchorage. Included in your Monograms vacation is admission to the ANCHORAGE MUSEUM OF HISTORY AND ART. You may also wish to sample some Alaskan seafood in one of the city’s waterfront restaurants, shop for souvenirs in downtown, or explore the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, where you’ll enjoy views of the ocean and maybe even spot a bald eagle or moose.
Day #7 Anchorage. Depart Anchorage or transfer to Seward or Whittier for cruise embarkation.
