Accommodations: The all-suite accommodations are available in 3 categories, housed within the wings of the U-shaped building. All feature living areas with sofas or sofa bed, and most feature balconies and ocean views. Amenities include air-conditioning, satellite TV, telephone, in-room safe, mini-bar, liquor dispenser, hairdryer, and iron/ironing board. Senior suites add separate living rooms, dressing rooms, and an additional TV. Jacuzzi suites have Jacuzzis on the balcony.
Dining & Entertainment: The main restaurant serves buffet-style meals with cook-to-order stations, and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Themed dinner buffets take place twice a week. There are 5 dinner-only a la carte options, including the somewhat uncommon option of a Japanese restaurant, and all require reservations. Los Arcos serves Brazilian and Italian cuisine. Tio Pepe offers a menu of authentic Spanish dishes. A steakhouse serves grilled specialties, and Sir Arthur is a gourmet restaurant. Snacks, plus and local and imported beverages are available 24 hours a day. There are 5 bars, and nightly stage shows and live music provide quality entertainment. Guests are welcome at the Pacha nightclub at the Hotel Riu Cancun.
Recreation: Land and water activities include beach volleyball, tennis on lighted hard-surface courts, catamaran sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, and snorkeling. An introductory scuba-diving lesson, taught in one of the 2 swimming pools, is included. The large infinity pool has an adjoining Jacuzzi, and there are plenty of lounge chairs as well as a swim-up bar. A gym is on hand for the fitness-minded, which you can follow with a stint in the sauna. The Renova spa has a full menu of indulging treatments and massages that adults can treat themselves to while the kids head for the mini-club's playground and children's pool.
